Top 10 things to do in Eastleigh according to Tripadvisor
WITH the summer holidays in full flow and businesses opened up again, parks, venues and attractions are becoming busier again.
Eastleigh offers a range of different things to do with your spare time whether you’re sporty, prefer shopping, or just looking for a day out in the sun.
That is why the Daily Echo has put together a list of the top ten things to do in Eastleigh.
All locations in this list are listed as an attraction currently on Tripadvisor and are in the order of how they rank on the website:
1. Eastleigh Lakeside Railway – Lakeside Country Park
Tours, Scenic Railroads
“Great to find a train operating on a week day, as opposed to weekends and holidays like many others. The train was fantastic- a great length ride, not too quick, and beautiful scenery for the ride.”
“We visited the Lakeside Country Park with the intention of walking around the beautiful lakes but couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a scenic ride on the train first! It was a really enjoyable 10-15 minute trip around the lakes.”
2. TeamSport Indoor Go Karting Southampton – Barton Park Industrial Estate
“A well organised fun activity… my son and a friend were booked in for a birthday activity but last minute was let down by the friend so mum (me) stepped up… it was brilliant… Briefing completed and names changed without a hitch.”
“We were a family group from age 12 to 52 and had such a fantastic time. All the staff were extremely professional, friendly & smiley, helpful and we all felt safe and had so much fun. Thank you Teamsport at Eastleigh you really did make our evening.”
3. Itchen Valley Country Park – Allington Lane
“Beautiful place full of secrets and wonderful places for children to play and explore. My daughter had so much fun searching and exploring in the woods. Lots of things to have a go at. A lovely day out had by the whole family.”
“So often these places can be a let down, but not this one. Hadn’t been for a while but what a great improvement in the facilities and especially the food. The kids loved the food that was really plentiful and we liked it because of the price.”
4. Eastleigh Museum – 25 High Street
Speciality Museums, History Museums
“We love this museum, good activities for children and is good day out. Learnt lots about the area but text is sometimes small to read. We would come again as good for family days out.”
“What a lovely little place this is! Presumably run by volunteers, who were to say the least very knowledgeable. It’s only a small museum, however it’s got bags of local history. You can also stay for a coffee in their nice cafe!”
5. The Point – Leigh Road
“Wow what can i say, the band was epic, staff was so helpful and went above and beyond tonight. Keep up the great venues and thanks again.”
“Went here to watch a dance show & was impressed how clean & welcoming it was. The staff were friendly & the actual seating was very good as all seats got a good view of the stage. Several car parks very close by, just a short walk over the green.”
6. Chandler’s Ford Library – Oakmount Road
“Whenever one is in difficulties, there is always someone to provide assistance. The only unfortunate aspect to its service is that the printing machine is not always reliable.”
“Helpful staff always on hand if you need help finding a book or particular author, but leave you to wander and make your choice for as long as you want to take .”
7. The Swan Centre – 23 Wells Place
“Went there looked around amazed how many shops there are. Better than the books in Winchester. With the Vue Cinema and a Soft Play”
“The Swan Centre is always the first choice when shopping in Eastleigh. Everything is in there, eating places, clothing & general food shopping. Rest your feet at Costa for a great coffee.”
8. Places Leisure – Passfield Avenue
“Home of solent kestrels, swimming pool, and great to watch your kids play football when they win. Remember to play sports.”
“This leisure centre is the home for the excellent Basketball team Solent Kestrels ! If you want a great night out watching an exciting fast game then this is the place to be.”
9. Partyman World of Play – Swan Shopping Centre
Game and Entertainment Centres
“I had my daughters 6th birthday party here today. I have had and been to lots of play centre parties and this was hands down the best. The 2 girls running it were professional as well as fun. Everything was well organised.”
“Shane has been extremely helpful and entertaining for the children when we have been to visit! Needs to learn some more balloon making skills!! Haha.”
10. Genius Escapes – 2 The Central Precinct Winchester Road
“Really good fun, puzzles are difficult enough to make you think but still keep it fun. A really immersive room with good quality tech! Friendly staff.”
“I booked this escape room for my Mum’s birthday surprise and the four of us had a brilliant time! We were unsure of what to expect having never done one before but we weren’t disappointed.”
