A charity which provides adventure holidays for disadvantaged or vulnerable children is calling on its supporters to nominate it in a bid to win a £1,000 festive boost.

Penryn based BF Adventure is in the running to receive a grant from Ecclesiastical Insurance’s annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign.

Now into its fifth year, the campaign sees the specialist insurer giving 120 different charities an early Christmas gift of a £1,000 donation, with 10 winners announced each weekday from December 6-21.

The Penryn-based charity said winning £1,000 would make a real impact.

The funding would be used to support BF Adventure’s critical charitable programme delivery, which helps support Cornwall’s vulnerable children and young people who find themselves facing incredibly difficult challenges.

Most young people BF Adventure supports have a range of complex needs, often exacerbated by poverty. Some have experienced significant trauma through abuse, others have disabilities and many have significant mental health concerns.

BF Adventure uses its 60 acre outdoor adventure centre to support them to overcome personal barriers, gain skills and build confidence.

Adrian Richards, CEO of BF Adventure, said: “We are seeing a continuous surge in the demand for our charitable services as children and young people face incredibly concerning and overwhelming situations.

“There is hope, however, and we know that the approach we use enables these young people to experience real breakthroughs which are in some cases life-saving. Every vote counts and yours could be the one that helps us win. You really could help us reach more children in desperate need.”

Mark Hews, group CEO of Ecclesiastical, said: “As a commercial company with a charitable purpose, giving back is at the heart of our business. In fact, Ecclesiastical is the fourth largest corporate donor in the UK.

“Our annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign has supported hundreds of charities over the past four years and I’m delighted that we will once again help charities change lives for the better.

“We know that for many charities £1,000 can make a real difference. We’re encouraging supporters to get their nominations in this Christmas to give them a chance of winning a festive financial boost.”

To nominate BF Adventure visit www.movementforgood.com/12days and click ‘Nominate a charity now’ and enter BF Adventure / charity number 1071862.

Nominations are open until December 20. Winners will be drawn at random and the more times BF Adventure is nominated the more chance it has of being selected.
