Holiday clubs on offer over Easter

A COUNCIL is offering free holiday club places to children who qualify for free school meals during the Easter break.

Blackburn with Darwen’s Holiday Activities and Food scheme will be running again over two weeks during the school holidays.

This programme offers free places in holiday clubs to children eligible for free school meals over the Easter holidays which run from Monday April 4 to Friday, April 15.

All children and young people eligible for free school meals or identified by local agency referral as in need, are entitled to four four hour holiday club sessions with a nutritious, hot meal each day.

The ‘Get Stuck In’ Clubs, run through Spring North, will provide a range of fun activities for children aged four to16 years. Activities are also available for children with special educational needs.

Sessions are available from: Blackburn and Darwen YouthZones, Youth Action, [email protected], IMO, One Voice Blackburn, SportsCool, Junction 4 Skatepark, FACE – Thisability, [email protected] and Rainbow Youth.

There is something for everyone, and the activities range from multi-sports, musical theatre and dance, arts and crafts, cooking sessions, drama and music.

The sessions on offer at Blackburn and Darwen children’s centres over the Easter Holidays are: Tuesday April 5, messy play for under-fives, 9.30 to11.30am at Highercroft Children’s Centre; Wednesday April 6 family Lego challenge for over-fives’s, 9.30to 11.30am and music time for under fives, 12.30 to 2.30pm, at Little Harwood Children’s Centre; Thursday April 7, easter basket crafts, 9.30 to 11.30am and music time for under-fives, 12.30 to 2.30pm at Livesey Children’s Centre. Friday April 8 spring bulb planting, 12.30 to 2.30 pm at Darwen Children’s Centre.
