Where kids can eat for free in Birmingham this Easter holiday

It’s one of life’s little pleasures, eating out. A change of scenery, no prep, no washing up, just quality time spent with your loved ones.

But it doesn’t come cheap. And in the Easter holidays, when you have a whole family to keep entertained, costs rack up fast.

So we’re taking a look at some places in the city where kids eat free this Easter holiday. In most cases, you’ll still have to buy an adult meal to get the freebie, but it still means a less expensive bill at the end.

Some are good for quick lunches on the go and others ideal for a relaxed tea out with the family. If there are any we’ve missed, let us know in the comments below.

1) Poli, Kings Heath

21 York Rd, King’s Heath, B14 7SA

Wood-fired pizza is on the menu at Poli and for kids, they’re free this Easter. Starting this Wednesday (April 13) and running until Saturday, April 23, Poli is offering a free margherita or marinara pizza to families dining together between 5pm and 6pm.

The kids-size pizza looks absolutely delicious so it’s likely they’ll be busy. Best to book ahead if you plan to take advantage of the deal. A regular pizza is priced from £8.

2) The Big Bear Cafe, Longbridge

314 Tessall Ln, B31 5EN

The Big Bear Cafe in Longbridge is offering a free kids meal with every purchase of its Bear or Big Bear Breakfast this Easter holiday. That means a sausage or bacon sandwich, half a sandwich and chips or a kids meal off the menu, completely free.

This only goes for diners who plan to eat in. They do a big breakfast inside a giant Yorkshire pudding, if that tickles your fancy! A Big Bear Breakfast costs around £6.

3) Bodega Cantina

12 Bennetts Hill, B2 5RS

Starting tomorrow (Tuesday, April 12), kids eat free with any full-paying adult (spending £10 or more) this Easter holiday. Bodega serves up south American food, so it’s a good opportunity to try something new with the kids.

Burritos, tacos, nachos and fried chicken are among the options for kids. Two courses will normally set you back £6.95.

4) Sommar Brewing

Sommar Tap & Lounge, 20 Waterloo Street , B2 5TB / Sommar Brewing Company, Canalside, Utilita Arena, B1 2AA

Brewery Sommar posted to Twitter: “With the cost of living rocketing, we wanted to do our part to help our loyal guests and customers. Starting today, if you join us over Easter and spend £10 on food, we’ll give you a child’s meal for free!”

Good beers and free eats? Sounds perfect. Burgers, chicken and loaded fries are among the dining options and burgers are priced from around £7.50.

5) Marks and Spencer

Various locations across the city

At the M&S Café, kids get a free meal deal when you spend £5 or more. The offer runs from now until April 22.

Options include a sandwich, toastie, pizza or pasta as well as a snack, a piece of fruit and a drink. Snack choices include gingerbread and a chocolate lolly. It’s an overall saving of £3.95.

6) Morrisons

Various locations across the city

Morrisons is offering a kids eat free deal this Easter, when you buy an adult meal priced at £4.50 and over. It’s valid from 3pm until the café closes, every day.

Among the kids meal options are chicken nuggets, fish fingers and bangers and mash. They’re normally priced at £2.99.

7) Yo Sushi

Grand Central/Selfridges

Yo Sushi’s Kids Eat Free After School Club offers dishes from the Mini Ninja children’s menu for free to little ones under the age of 10. The deal can be redeemed between 3:30pm and 5:30pm from Monday until Thursday and it runs until May 26.

Usually, a main, side and drink costs £6.95 for kids and options include Japanese fried chicken, mild katsu and noodles.

8) Asda

Various locations across the city

Asda already offers free Ella’s baby foods to kids under 18-months when you buy anything in its cafés and kids under 16 eat free, Monday to Friday, after 3pm. You must spend at least £4 in the café to get the free kids food.

Fish fingers, nuggets and scampi are on the menu in the Asda Café.

9) Bella Italia

The Charters, 102 New St, B2 4HS

So Bella isn’t offering free food for kids, but they are giving parents codes so they can feed their children for just £1. It’s valid from now until April 24.

The deal is available when an adult main is purchased and it includes a three course meal, including a Cawston Pressed juice. Pizza and pasta are among the options.

10) Dunelm’s Pausa Café

Various locations, including Apex Retail Park, Upper Conybere Street, Highgate Middleway, B12 0EB

Dunelm’s in-store cafe, Pausa, is offering a free mini main, two snacks and a drink for every £4 you spend from now until April 24.

Options include beans on toast, jacket potatoes and sandwiches.

11) Hungry Horse

Various locations across the city

Kids eat breakfast for free at Hungry Horse restaurants this Easter holiday. Between 8am and 12pm, you get a free breakfast with every adult meal purchase.

An adult full English will cost you £3.49 so it’s not the most expensive morning out. There are breakfast burritos on the menu too.
