The best Platinum Jubilee supermarket food and drink offers

The time for street parties is almost upon us, so it’s time to find the best supermarket deals so you don’t go hungry or thirsty over the Jubilee weekend.

Hundreds of Teessiders are expected to take to the streets from Thursday, June 2, until Sunday, June 5, to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Many people will be hosting parties and will be relying on supermarkets to grab all their go-to party foods and best barbeque bites.

So what are some of the best supermarket deals in time for the Jubilee? We looked at a number of major supermarkets to see what some of the most impressive deals are, on everything from strawberries and scones to spirits.

Morrisons

The supermarket’s Jubilee website page has a large range of offers that are on price holds. Morrisons is currently doing a two-for-four deal on many different packs of sausages, and have deals on crisps, dips, nuts, and wine. In terms of alcohol, the supermarket has a bottle of rose wine for £5.75, a crate of 18 bottles of Corona for £15.99, and Kylie Minogue prosecco for £9.

Morrisons has also just launched a Jubilee cream tea deal in its in-store cafes, which includes a classic ham or egg sandwich, a buttery fruit scone, clotted cream and jam, and a pot of tea. It only costs customers £2.99, so it’s a brilliantly cheap way to celebrate.

Tesco



Tesco Extra on Durham Lane, Stockton

Tesco has a number of Jubilee top picks on its website, with many street party essentials moving down to Clubcard prices. In terms of alcohol, one litre of Pimm’s (£12), Tanqueray London Dry Gin (£20), prosecco (£7.50) and even a fancy bottle of Moet & Chandon brut imperial non-vintage champagne (£34) have all been reduced in price in time for the bank holiday weekend.

For snacks, Pringles are currently £2 for a tub, with a bag of Doritos at £1.99. Matching the popular bbq offer trend, Tesco currently has any two for £8 Clubcard price on selected ready-to-cook and bbq products.

The supermarket chain is even giving away £700 to shoppers for the Jubilee Bank Holiday, in a bid to give to kind people a treat. They will give the money away to 70 crowned winners.

Asda

Asda is currently doing a mix-and-match deal for £7, which includes popular items such as a bbq rack of ribs, fajita-style meatballs, Indian-style chicken wings, and even a slow cook hog roast. The supermarket also has a rollback on 10% bottles of strawberry daiquiri and Margherita pre-mixed cocktails, which simply require a shake before use, for just £7 a bottle.

In terms of barbeques, Asda has a ‘bar-be-quick’ two-pack instant lighting charcoal, which is just £5. The supermarket also has a number of Jubilee bundles, including a £7.45 turkey bundle, a £15.70 Queen’s favourite bundle (including Earl Grey Tea and smoked salmon), and fizzy drinks three for £20 bundle, which includes a whopping 72 cans of pop.

The shop has 27 different Jubilee-themed bundles, so it’s definitely worth popping to Asda to get some multipack things for a street party.

Sainsbury’s



Sainsbury’s in Middlesbrough

Sainsbury’s has a large number of platters in its food-to-order section to save the hassle of pre-making food for street parties. There is a nifty £20 chicken bbq platter that serves 10, featuring a selection of chicken products perfect including sweet chilli chicken and cajun chicken.

The supermarket has also teamed up with Yo! Sushi to create a number of different sushi platters, including a £10 crispy maki platter and an £18 salmon and prawn deluxe platter. Alongside all the savory food, Sainsbury’s is also doing pasta, salads, couscous, and fruit bowls that can all be made to order for collection within a few days.

Co-op

The Co-op has a few major offers to celebrate the jubilee, with its main alcohol offer being a bottle of Pimm’s and lemonade for just £10 (the bottle of Pimm’s itself is usually £16) – but you must be an exclusive member. The Co-op also has a p rotein mix and match with two for £7 or three for £10 on a variety of meats, ranging from rump steak to smoked salmon.

The other major deal at the Co-op is three for two on picnic foods, which includes typical picnic specialties such as pork pies, sausage rolls, quiche, coleslaw, and hummus.

M&S



M&S food hall at Cleveland Retail Park, Middlesbrough

Marks and Spencer has some impressive limited-edition Jubilee food and drinks items that are definitely worth considering for when you throw your street party. The supermarket has a number of afternoon tea sandwich platters, with a 30-piece classic sandwich selection tray costing just £20.

M&S also has some impressive drink party packs, with the Platinum Jubilee cocktail party picnic bag costing £40 and including a cool bag filled with five cocktails in a can (at 8% alcohol), a bottle of prosecco, a light strawberry and elderflower p ressé, and a Platinum Jubilee ale.

The shop also does a number of different afternoon tea and cake sets, and even sells Jubilee-themed cushions, bedding, picnic bowls, and flowers – so everything you need for the long weekend celebrations.

Lidl

Lidl is celebrating the Queen’s 70-year reign with a prize draw from May 30 until June 5. By scanning the Lidl Plus app, you could be in for a chance of winning over 1250 prizes, including an impressive grand prize of £10,000.

From Thursday, June 2, Lidl is having a ‘big on a bubbly jubbly Jubilee’ where when products are gone, they are gone. It has a number of street food recipes on the website that you can do easily with Lidl products and also have a range of Jubilee offers, including scotch eggs for 89p, deluxe sausage rolls for £1.79, all-butter scones for 99p, and a crate of 12 Budweiser bottled beers for just £8.49.

Aldi



Aldi has plenty of deals on for the Jubilee

Aldi is already known for its great deals, so it comes as no surprise that it has got some good Jubilee bundles and street food. When it comes to strawberries and scones, Aldi has a four-pack of scones for £1.09 and a tub of strawberry jam for £1.19. It also is selling strawberry trifles for £1.65, and victoria sponges for £1.75.

In terms of bbq food, buns are less than a pound, and you can get a six-pack of caramelised onion sausages for just £1.99. At £3.39, you can also get a four-pack of Aberdeen beef quarter pounders. With alcohol, Aldi has a variety of cheaper own-branded spirits, and there is currently a special offer on Haysmith’s rhubarb and ginger gin which is now £12.99. Most cocktails-in-a-can can be found at about 85p.
